On Tuesday 24th April 2012 Whistles and Penguin celebrated inspiring Women, with Jane Shepherdson (Whistles CEO) and Alexis Kirschbaum (Penguin Books Editorial Director) hosting a dinner for 80 women in fashion, film, publishing and beyond. Guest speakers included Rosie Arnold, Deputy Creative Director of BBH, Beeban Kidron, Director (Including Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit) and Lynn Thomas, Surgeon Captain and Highest ranking female officer in the Navy.
The three women were there to talk about their lives and careers to date. Inspired by the book 'The Best of Everything' by Rona Jaffe (Published by Penguin) which documents the lives of secretaries in New York in the 1950s and their limited career prospects, the women reflected on how much has changed and how much remains the same for women in the workplace.
Guests dined on food by pop up dining company Shacklewell Nights, the menu included Confit duck leg with ransom and white beans, followed by Lemon and elderflower posset with home made shortbread.
Guests drank French martinis, Champagne and old fashioneds, followed by wines from Villa Maria.
