|preview| Esk Valley Winemaker, Gordon Russell, is hosting a Winemaker Dinner with a difference on Thursday 10th May at the Driftwood Spars pub in St. Agnes in Cornwall. Gordon will be joining diners live from his own kitchen in Hawke's Bay from a distance of almost 19,000 km and 13 hours ahead in time.

|detail| Gordon will be joining diners via a live superfast broadband link through which he will be projected on to the wall of the pub to chat with diners. During the course of the dinner Gordon will introduce six Esk Valley wines which have been selected to match a special menu for the evening. For Gordon, these will be on his 'breakfast' menu as it will be 8am New Zealand time.

Gordon has visited the Driftwood Spars pub on several occasions during visits to the UK but this is the first time he has joined them via Satellite. Comments Gordon: "The internet makes it possible to do extraordinary things and makes the world seem a much smaller place. Although I love meeting consumers and visiting Driftwood Spars when I am in the UK, I am very much looking forward to travelling without a plane this time. It will be exciting to be able to greet diners in the UK from my own Kitchen."

The dinner is taking place on Thursday 10th May at the Driftwood Spars pub in St. Agnes, Cornwall, in partnership with St. Austell Brewery, Superfast Cornwall, BT and University College Falmouth. Tickets are priced at £50 for six courses including wines.
