2012 sees the third year of this initiative from the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowers Association (GGWA) which aims to show a snap snapshot of each vintage and help chart the evolution of Gimblett Gravels Wines. Master of Wine Andrew Caillard MW, selected 12 red wines, including the Esk Valley Winemakers Reserve Merlot Malbec Cabernet 2010 and Villa Maria Reserve Merlot 2010.
Nick Aleksich, Chairman of the GGWA, comments "This was by far the most challenging selection process yet, with over 40 of our members' top wines submitted for selection. The majority of the nominated wines are already gold medal and/or trophy winners in their own right. To have so many quality wines in the running is a fantastic position to be in - testament to our special terroir and the dedication of our members. Andrew Caillard MW has been the selector since the inaugural 2008 vintage and we thank him for his diligence and willingness to make the tough decisions to pick just 12 wines to represent Gimblett Gravels. "
A limited number of 2010 Annual Vintage Selection wines are being sent out to key wine media and influencers around the world for review.
