In the second annual 'Wines of Chile Sommelier Challenge' Errazuriz wines were voted in the 'top three' in three out of five categories. They were chosen from a selection which included some non-Chilean wines, that were tasted blind by twenty-five top Sommeliers.
The tasting line up of 68 wines was selected by Ronan Sayburn, Master Sommelier and Head of Wines at the Dorchester Collection, Laurent Chaniac, food and wine consultant to The Cinnamon Club & Kitchen and Martin Lam, Chef-Owner of Ransome's Dock. Tasting blind, the twenty-five judging sommeliers were asked to vote for wines that showed great quality and style as well as representing good value for money and the ability to sit well on a restaurant wine list. Within each blind-tasting line-up some non-Chilean wines were included which were specially selected for the tasting, as best-selling wines on top restaurant lists. In most categories Chilean wines were chosen in favour of these wines.
