A new look for an old favourite

Villa Maria is launching an all new look after global consumer research revealed that it was time for an update to the existing labels. The family-owned New Zealand winery has responded by creating fresh new labels for their entire range of wines and updating the Villa Maria logo to give a contemporary look while at the same time retaining the heritage of the brand. The first of the new labels will appear on bottles of the 2013 vintage Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc which will be on shelf from mid-July.

Villa Maria Founder and Owner Sir George Fistonich comments: "We're starting a new era by giving an old favourite that we've loved and cherished for the past 50 years, a fresh new look. We wanted to create some vibrancy while reinforcing that it is the same respected and trusted wine brand that consumers know and love. We're proud to be entirely New Zealand and family-owned and making premium quality wine remains our focus. We're very excited that our new label has coincided with what has been an outstanding vintage."

The new labels have been designed for the entire portfolio, with a nod toward the winery's proud history including the red 'V', a stylised version of a medal ribbon and regal crown which symbolises the passionate pursuit of quality and triumph over receivership.

Following consumer feedback which suggested that the old packaging did not reflect Villa Maria's New Zealand Heritage as much as other iconic New Zealand brands, the new capsule on Private Bin and Cellar Selection wines now profiles the mountain range that is the backdrop for Villa Maria's scenic Seddon Vineyard in Marlborough. This epitomizes the scenery emblematic for the Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc, the flagship wine for Villa Maria.

The new back label offers a concise overview of the wine, region, tasting notes and food pairing, using friendly, accessible language. Villa Maria's commitment to sustainability is reinforced by the presence of the New Zealand sustainability logo which is included for the first time here.

Villa Maria wanted to launch into their 51st vintage with a fresh and modern look that also brought through the most important elements from Villa Maria's history. The new labels will feature on all Villa Maria wines bottled from June 2013 onwards.
