Sweet Treats for Silent Picturehouse

British Airways is once again partnering with Michelin star chef Simon Hulstone, to produce the menu for its Silent Picturehouse event - a pop-up cinema in London between 22-26 July.

Simon Hulstone from Devon, who produced the Olympic-inspired menu with Heston Blumenthal for millions of British Airways customers during the London 2012 Games, will once again bring his expertise to the event, this time creating a cinematic inspired menu.

It will include space-dust popcorn, lip-licking hot dogs with an all-American relish, and the best ever pick 'n' mix with everyone's favourite retro sweets. Guests will also be treated to Taittinger Champagne, Hotel Chocolat treats and Union ice-cream, as well as cocktails inspired by the Silver Screen. Simon will also be creating speciality popcorn inspired by the movies, which will be revealed on the launch night.

Chef Hulstone, who is also the Proprietor of The Elephant in Torquay, said: "I'm very excited to be working on this very cool and fun project. There's endless inspiration you can take from the movies, especially as cinema snacks are such a big part of the whole movie experience."

British Airways' Silent Picturehouse brings the in-flight experience to life, offering guests Sennheiser headsets to tune in to travel inspired movies at night, and Disney movies for kids by day. The event is held in a dramatic setting, complete with movie memorabilia and travel artefacts to enrich the viewing experience. Tickets start from £7.50 available from 24 June at

Screened on five large screens over five nights, Silent Picturehouse will show; Jaws, Top Gun, Skyfall, The Beach and a Fans' Choice from; The Exotic Marigold Hotel, Slumdog Millionaire, Casablanca, Sleepless in Seattle and Into the Wild. Voting is now open at;

To celebrate the upcoming release of Disney's Planes the venue transforms into Silent Picturehouse Kids during the day, showing, Disney films including; Up, Cars 2, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful, The Muppets and a sneak peak of Planes.

Silent Picturehouse presenter Edith Bowman, said: "I was involved in the very first Silent Picturehouse in 2010, and I'm delighted that British Airways is bringing it back. Watching films is one the great pleasures of flying, and bringing this experience to the ground promises to be a lot of fun.

"It's also a great event to take your kids along to during the summer holidays, showing everyone's favourite Disney films during the day."

Speaking about a movie that inspired him to travel, Simon said: "I love history and ancient artifacts, so it's no surprise that the film that inspired me to travel was 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'! I've visited Jordan and Egypt, but my ultimate goal, which I'm yet to do, is to get too Machu Picchu in Peru."

Silent Picturehouse is being held in association with the airline's partner the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and supported by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
