Santiago, 3rd December 2013. - At the 11th Annual Wines of Chile Awards 2013, Caliterra Tributo Carmenère 2011 from Colchagua Valley was awarded the title of Best Carmenère in Chile.
The panel of judges, formed of opinion leaders and specialists from Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Chile, tasted hundreds of samples in the category, before awarding the prize to Caliterra Tributo Carmenère.
Caliterra Chief Winemaker, Rodrigo Zamorano, said, "It has been a year with many changes and news at Caliterra, and we received this recognition with pride, since we know that the path we have been taking with Carmenère Tributo has been the right one, and the one that will lead Caliterra to offer the world great wines from Chile."
Maria Oliva, Viticulturalist and Sustainability Manager, added, "It is very rewarding to realise that this Carmenère has been recognised as outstanding because of its quality, an attribute possible to find in this exceptional terroir in Colchagua. It confirms too that a sustainable management regime for our vineyards ensures the production of high quality wines as well that are environmentally friendly."
Caliterra is located in the heart of the Colchagua Valley, where the climate and terroir produce this emblematic variety from Chile. The fact that Caliterra is devoted to investigating the properties of each site within its vineyard has been critical to get this world class Carmenère Tributo.
