With a 'Winery of the Year' title, 12 trophies, 17 golds, and 16 five star ratings, the final cherry on top came with a Sweet Wine of the Year trophy released in the Australasian magazine Winestate. The Vidal Legacy Series Noble Semillon 2011* was the top sweet wine out of the 500 tasted in that category during 2013.
Vidal Winemaker Hugh Crichton said 2013 has been a very memorable year for the winery, "Receiving the Winery of the Year Award at the Hawkes Bay A&P show was a real highlight, along with the continued recognition as a premium Chardonnay and Syrah producer, the awards we've won for these varietals have really helped to build a demand in our key markets. Despite the tough vintages of 2011 and 2012 our wines continue to show well which really is encouraging news," he said.
Vidal winery is based in Hastings in Hawkes Bay with vineyard sites in the renowned Gimblett Gravels and other top sites in Hawkes Bay and Marlborough. Founded in 1905 the boutique winery produces premium quality wines that truly reflect the region and vineyards from which they were sourced.
