Villa Maria has worked with BAFTA's Head Chef, Anton Manganaro, at their 195 Piccadilly headquarters, to create some fun popcorn flavours to match three of its wines. These were served at the glitzy Asprey BAFTA Nominees Party on Saturday 15th February as a prelude to the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2014 Ceremony which took place on Sunday evening at the Royal Opera House. Stars of the silver screen were in attendance at the party including Dame Helen Mirren, Amy Adams and Steve Coogan.
The mouth-watering matches were:
- Salted Caramel Popcorn with Villa Maria Private Bin Pinot Grigio 2013
- Lime & Chilli Popcorn with Villa Maria Private Bin Riesling 2011
- " White Truffle Popcorn with Villa Maria Cellar Selection Pinot Noir 2012
This elegant evening was held at Asprey's beautiful flagship store on Bond Street, which closed its doors for the evening to exclusively host this very special BAFTA party. Villa Maria had its own dedicated room at the party, stylishly dressed with stunning photos of the vineyards and winery. Here the wines and popcorn matches were served and enjoyed by the glittering guests, to the soulful tunes of Lianne La Havas who performed a special set during the evening.
Villa Maria Estate (New Zealand's most awarded Wine Company for over 30 years) is BAFTA's Official Wine Partner. Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2013 and Villa Maria Private Bin Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 were served at the special awards dinner and after show party at Grosvenor House last night.
