A Methuselah bottle of Champagne Taittinger, the official Champagne partner to BAFTA, has been signed by BAFTA's film stars and will be auctioned for charity later this year.
A Methuselah - equivalent to eight standard bottles - was donated by Champagne Taittinger and signed by celebrity attendees backstage at the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2014. The bottle has been autographed by some of this year's nominees and winners including Leonardo di Caprio, who was nominated for the Leading Actor Award, and Ron Howard, Director of the film 'Rush' which won the Editing Award. Performers Tinie Tempah and Laura Mvula, who duetted at the Awards Ceremony, also added their signatures.
As the official Champagne Sponsor to BAFTA, special BAFTA labelled Magnums, 75cl bottles and a limited number of Methuselah of Champagne Taittinger Brut Réserve were produced for the Awards this year. In addition a bottle in a presentation gift box was also included in the gift bags, given to all nominees and citation readers.
The following were among those who have signed the Methuselah bottle, which will be auctioned for charity later this year by BAFTA: Oprah Winfrey, Richard E Grant, Gillian Anderson, Steve Coogan, Emma Thompson, Ray Winstone, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Tom Hardy and many more.
Champagne Taittinger is the official Champagne Partner to BAFTA for the 12th consecutive year.
Taittinger is one of the few premium Champagne houses to remain owned and actively managed by the named family. It is proud to support the work of BAFTA to acknowledge and encourage the highest achievements in film and television.
