Champagne Taittinger sponsored the Food For Celebration category at this year’s Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year awards for the first time.
Lynn Murray, UK Marketing Director, Hatch Mansfield – UK sole agents for Champagne Taittinger comments, ‘Champagne Taittinger has supported these awards from their inception three years ago and since that time they have grown from strength to strength and still show such potential. At Taittinger we are great lovers of the arts generally and we believe these awards showcase the potential for this type of photographic award which up until now has not been recognised but captures the imagination of something so key to our everyday lives.’
The winner of the category, announced on Wednesday night at the awards ceremony in London, was Tuan Nguyen (Vietnam) for his image ‘Two Old Ladies preparing Tet Cake’.
Jay Rayner, food critic and chairman of the judges, says, ‘... these two women, I think we can call them slightly senior. They are older women, clearly having a marvellous time preparing whatever it is they’re preparing.’*
More than 400 guests and finalists from across the world attended the awards ceremony, compered by chairman of the judges, journalist and food critic Jay Rayner. A total of 6,000 images were entered into the awards overall - competition was fiercer than ever. For the first year Vitalie Taittinger, Marketing Director of the family owned Champagne House was invited to join the judging panel.
Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year is an international celebration of the art of food photography, now in its third year. The top prize of £5,000 and the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2014 title was won by Tessa Bunney (Lao PDR) for her image ‘Noodle Making’.
