Leading Stellenbosch wine maker Kleine Zalze is launching a new range of wines for independent sectors of the UK trade. The new range is named Cleefs after Kleine Zalze’s founder.
The Cleefs range is for customers who know Kleine Zalze’s reputation for premium quality South African wines at all price levels, and want to offer something new to their customers. Cleefs provides them with a Classic Collection of five varietals and a Reserve Collection of four wines.
Core to the range are South Africa’s best performing varietals including Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the wines are presented in packaging with a contemporary yet classic look depicting the Kleine Zalze vineyard. All white wines are launching with the 2014 vintage and the reds are 2013 and 2012. Stock is arriving in the UK this week and is available to order from Hatch Mansfield.
The family-owned Kleine Zalze estate dates back to 1695 when the farm was first acquired by Nicholas Cleef. His belief that Stellenbosch had the potential to produce world-class wine led him to develop Kleine Zalze, which today is one of the country’s leading wine estates. Current owner Kobus Basson comments “Our new Cleefs range is a tribute to Nicholas Cleef, his vision and his belief in this land as having great potential to produce exceptional wines. The Cleefs range is very much linked to our history and it will play an important part in our future as it helps us and our UK agent Hatch Mansfield to extend our offer to independent sectors of the trade.”
