Villa Maria hosts a celebratory lunch for Jon Snow in honour of his upcoming fellowship at the House of Fraser British Academy Television Awards in 2015

Villa Maria wines from New Zealand,  official wine partner to BAFTA, was proud to host an intimate lunch for admired journalist and news anchor Jon Snow at the Corinthia Hotel yesterday in honour of his upcoming ‘Fellowship’ which he will be presented with at the House of Fraser British Academy Television Awards on Sunday 10th May.  Jon was joined at the lunch by close friends and family.

Awarded annually, the Fellowship is the highest tribute presented to an individual by BAFTA.  This award is given in recognition of Jon’s exceptional contribution to television. With a career spanning over 40 years, Jon Snow is one of the UK’s most venerated and hard-working news broadcasters. Jon began his career at LBC Radio in 1973 before joining ITN in 1976 as their Washington correspondent. His career has taken him all over the world covering some of the biggest news stories, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and Barack Obama’s inauguration as President of the United States. He has been presenting the Channel 4 News for over 25 years.

Guests attending the event included Jon’s wife, Dr. Precious Lunga, and his two daughters, Leila and Freya Colvin, close friends and work colleagues including Channel 4 News Editor Ben de Pear and Deputy Editor Shaminder Nahal.   Patrick McGrath MW, Managing Director of Hatch Mansfield (UK Agent for Villa Maria) and Fiona Mottershaw, Villa Maria Brand Manager, also attended along with Nigel Oddy, Chief Executive Officer of the House of Fraser (BAFTA’s title sponsor), Chair of BAFTA Anne Morrison, Deputy Chair John Willis, BAFTA Chief Executive Amanda Berry OBE and Andrew Newman, Chair of the Television Committee.

The House of Fraser British Academy Television Awards will be hosted by Graham Norton at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and broadcast on Sunday 10th May at 8pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
