Michel Roux Jr Heads Up Judging Panel of The Taittinger Prix Culinaire International in the UK

Champagne Taittinger are delighted to announce that Michel Roux Jr will be the UK Presidential Judge of the 2015 Taittinger Prix Culinaire International.  Roux will head up a panel of ten top chef judges for the competition which is now open to chefs between the ages of 24 and 39, with over five years of experience.

Set up 49 years ago, the competition - often referred to as the ‘Everest of Gastronomy’ - demonstrates Champagne Taittinger’s commitment to the promotion of young, upcoming chefs.  Seven countries will host national finals, including the UK which will see the competition take place at Roux at Parliament Square on 5th September.  Competitors will be invited to submit a recipe of classic cuisine on a set theme chosen by the organising committee - this year, it will be based on a poularde (large chicken).  Ingredients are chosen from a supplied list and dishes prepared on the day.  They will also prepare a second dish based on a theme provided by Michel Roux.

The winner of the UK competition will be chosen by Michel Roux Jr and announced by Champagne Taittinger’s Marketing Director Vitalie Taittinger right after the cook off.  All UK finalists will receive a Jeroboam of Champagne Taittinger and the UK winner will received €2,400, a trophy and a place in the international final which will be held in Paris on 23rd November.

The winner of the international final will receive €10,000; the runner up €4,800 and the 3rd Prize winner, €2,500.  All will win a trophy to acknowledge their success.

Lynn Murray, UK Marketing Director, Hatch Mansfield – UK sole agents for Champagne Taittinger comments, ‘Gastronomy is a huge passion for Champagne Taittinger and this prize was established to pay tribute to the young chefs working at the highest level in their trade.  We are absolutely thrilled to have Michel Roux Jr as UK Presidential judge this year, himself is one of the finest chefs in the UK.’
