The Taittinger Hot Air Balloon had one of its best Bristol International Balloon Fiesta’s this year where it had 5 amazing flights and saw the best weather the festival experienced seen since 2004.
After each flight guests celebrated with a glass of Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc des Blancs Brut 2005.
Pete Dalby, Champagne Taittinger’s Balloon Pilot, also flew the first solar hybrid Hot Air Balloon certified for flight on its maiden journey at the Fiesta.
The Solar Hybrid Balloon, developed by Cameron Balloons, is built of a light weight polyurethane coated nylon. Thee black side of the balloon attracts heat from the sun to make the air inside of the balloon envelope much hotter than the ambient temperature - the silver side of the balloon then prevents that heat from escaping. Thankfully the balloon is fitted with propane burners, just in case the sun disappears mid-flight! which is what makes it a solar-hybrid.
