The Taittinger family are delighted to release the much anticipated Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 2006. This prestige cuvée will be available from September 2015.
Made from 100% chardonnay from only Grand Cru rated vineyards including Azive, Le Mesnil sur Oger, Oger, Cramant and Chouilly in the prestigious Côtes des Blancs. This Champagne is only produced when the harvest is of exceptional quality worthy of a vintage year.
Comments Clovis Taittinger, “Our Comtes de Champagne is made with five Grand Crus, the very best of the best. The 2006 vintage is well balanced but reveals incredible complexity. It is delicious now, but I am personally very excited to see how it develops over time as it promises to be very long lived”
Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger adds, “2006 represents the first vintage made in my Presidency, when I took over Taittinger with my son, Clovis, and daughter, Vitalie. Comtes is the soul of Taittinger, it’s an extraordinary wine whose reputation was built by my ancestors. It’s divine; it’s magic; it’s a glorious wine.”
The nose initially presents a fresh, refined tangerine-like fruitiness. It then develops more mature notes of ripe fruit, raisin pastries and candied fruit. On the palate, the attack is both smooth and very lively. The mid-palate is supple, full-bodied and rich, with flavours of grapefruit. The finish is still very long and refined with a hint of spice, reminiscent of liquorice sticks. The Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006 offers maturity and finesse. This Champagne’s aromatic potential is just beginning to open up, suggesting a very good capacity to age.
