South Africa, Stellenbosch, November 2015; TERROIR proudly accepted one of the highly prestigious ‘Top 10’ awards at the annual 2015 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards held on Sunday 15th November. Terroir Chef Michael Broughton prepared the main course of Karoo lamb shoulder with lavender, confit tomatoes, onions, peas and potato gratin; for 600 guests at the ‘Sunday Best’ themed awards lunch, held at SunExhibits at GrandWest.
Since opening in 2004, Terroir has been honoured nine times with a ‘Top 10’ award – a remarkable achievement for a low-key restaurant on a family owned wine farm in Stellenbosch. This year, Terroir was placed 8th overall and Broughton was quick to express his thanks for being recognised once again.
‘To be put up for sale every year is not for the faint hearted! The entire team works hard throughout the year, and it’s great to be recognised and rewarded like this – we are super chuffed!’
‘Terroir’s outstanding achievements over the years reflect extremely well, not only on Kleine Zalze and the wines we produce, but on the entire Stellenbosch region. When we started the restaurant in 2004, we had no idea what a huge impact Terroir would have on developing the local food and wine culture. Today, Michael and his staff can be proud of what they’ve achieved and for setting such high standards,’ commented Kobus Basson, owner of Kleine Zalze and Terroir.
If you are fortunate enough to be visiting the area, Terroir is open Mondays to Saturdays for lunch and dinner, and on Sundays for lunch only. Advance reservations are highly recommended, especially during the summer months. To book call 021 880-8167 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
