In his last report entitled The Top 100 Wines of the Andes 2016, the international wine critic positioned Viñedo Chadwick Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 as the N°1 wine over more than 1,300 wines tasted from Chile and Argentina.
This outstanding recognition crowns the most successful year of this Ultra-Premium Cabernet Sauvignon, which became the first Chilean wine to achieve a perfect 100 points score last May.
James Suckling, considered one of the world's most influential wine critics, chose Viñedo Chadwick 2014 as the Best wine from the Andes, and praised it as the N°1 wine in his latest report Top Wines of the Andes 2016.
“We tasted more than 1,300 wines to come up with this list. Truly, something extraordinary is happening in the Andes. We’ve visited the region four times in the last two years, and we’re continually impressed with the reds and whites as they become increasingly refined and stylish. Chile and Argentina are also making some of the most drinkable wines in the world. We’re happy to see the region embrace a more harmonious approach that emphasizes viticultural areas as well as vineyards. In Chile, the region’s uniqueness extends to different regions and varietals, though our top Chilean wines were Cabernet Sauvignon”, wrote the American expert, referring particularly to Viñedo Chadwick Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 as the N°1.
This exceptional recognition rounds up an outstanding year for Viñedo Chadwick, as last May was scored with a perfect 100 points score by Suckling, setting a milestone not only in the history of Viñedo Chadwick but also for the Chilean wine history, as it is the first time a wine from this country has achieved 100 points. This perfect score positions Maipo Alto and Chile among the most prestigious world-class appellations for red wines, such as Bordeaux, Tuscany and Napa.
“Perhaps a sign of Chile truly coming of age is our 100-point rating of the 2014 Viñedo Chadwick, a Cabernet Sauvignon from Valle de Maipo. This is a wine that defines the greatness of Chile with a purity, structure, and finesse that competes with the best reds of the world. This is a wine that defines elegance and power at the same time.” commented James Suckling on his report.
The wine critic concluded his report with auspicious forecast for the Andean region: “The unique blend and balance of tradition and progress, old and new, is even evident in the types of producers. But big names do matter, and the absolute best bottles come from talented winemakers who have a long resume of excellence. These two groups, together, represent the future of South America’s bourgeoning wine scene, and especially considering the exceptional value, it’s clear that now is the time to take note of what the Andes has to offer.”
Last May, following his recent visit to Chile, during which he tasted more than 600 wines from different valleys, Suckling published his article entitled “Chile’s Evolving Quality Wine World” in which he awarded Viñedo Chadwick 2014 100 points, and described it as “complex aromas of blueberry, blackcurrant and black liquorice. Full bodied yet refined and beautiful with a stunning length and complexity. It has a transparency that shows such greatness and beauty. Half the normal production. Has an energy and brightness. Chile's first perfect wine and well deserved.”
Eduardo Chadwick, President of Viñedo Chadwick, commented: “This is not only a great milestone for Viñedo Chadwick, but also for all Chilean wines in our pursuit of excellence and recognition of quality at the highest world class level”.
Eduardo Chadwick will be representing Chile in the world’s most remarkable wines in James Suckling’s up-coming high-end wine tastings in the United States. These are the Great Wines of the Andes that will take place on September’s last week in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. Then, in November 3rd, Francisco Baettig, winemaker and Technical Director, will present Viñedo Chadwick in the Great Wines of the World to be celebrated in Hong Kong.
