The farm is now delighted to announce that they are rounding off this stellar year with the pinnacle of home-grown success as three of their wines gain the top accolade of Five Stars in the Platter’s by Diners Club South African Wine Guide 2017.
The Platter’s by Diners Club South African Wine Guide 2017 is the definitive guide to South African wines with more than 8,000 wines from over 900 producers carefully reviewed annually. The top wines undergo further scrutiny in a blind tasting by an expert panel of judges to find those rare few which are literally, the best in the country.
Three of the Kleine Zalze flagship wines from the Family Reserve range have been chosen for inclusion in the list of South Africa’s best wines of 2017. The Family Reserve range of wines are only made and released in exceptional vintages, making them much sought-after by connoisseurs and collectors. The three wines awarded Five Stars are the Family Reserve Chenin Blanc 2015, Family Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2015 and the Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2012.
Kleine Zalze’s managing director, Kobus Basson, credits his winemakers, Alastair Rimmer, RJ Botha and the rest of the team and previous teams for their astounding success over the past 20 years. “We have always focused on quality and consistency” he says. “The first 10 years were about establishing the Kleine Zalze brand. The next 10 was refining it and focusing on continuous improvement. Now, with all our recent success, we have to take stock, keep on doing what we do right and set ambitious targets for the next 10 years.”
