C.V.N.E 2017 Vintage Report

This year marked and unprecedented early completion of the harvest for the entire region of Rioja, but with a very positive balance in terms of quality. Thus, this vintage will be remembered at CVNE for being one of the earliest and shortest harvests to date, since we started picking at the end of August, approximately 20 days earlier than usual and completed harvest by mid-October.

C.V.N.E 2016 Vintage Report

We can confirm that it has been an excellent vintage for CVNE. Our Technical Director stated that 2016 is a potential year for the production of great Reservas and Gran Reservas.

C.V.N.E 2015 Vintage Report

After completing this year’s harvest, we can confirm that the 2015 vintage has emerged as one of the best harvests from the past few years. The fruit quality is what defines this vintage as exceptional due in particular to the exceptional weather we experienced during harvest.

C.V.N.E 2013 Vintage Report

The 2013 harvest in Rioja characterizes for being the latest harvest of this century due to the delay in the evolution of the vineyard.

C.V.N.E 2012 Vintage Report

The 2012 harvest has been of low yield in the DOC Rioja due to drought that has characterized this vintage. The yield of the vineyard was lower especially in dry land areas and has affected all varieties, especially white but this lack of rain has favored that the grapes arrived at the winery in excellent health getting very Mediterrean wines, aromatic and fruity.

C.V.N.E 2011 Vintage Report

The annual cycle started with a mild but rather dry winter (50-100 litres per square metre less than the average for the previous year). This was followed by warm, dry weather in March and the first half of April. Welcome rain arrived in late April and May and this, combined with the warm temperatures helped the vines develop and blossom.

C.V.N.E 2010 Vintage Report

As can be seen from the depth and obvious ripeness of the wines, and in line with many other regions of Europe, 2010 is considered to be an excellent vintage in Rioja. The wines have a freshness and generosity of fruit in comparison to the obviously plump 2009 vintage.

C.V.N.E 2009 Vintage Report

The last grapes of the 2009 harvest were picked in vineyards near Haro on 26 October 2009, making this one of the earliest harvests in the history of the Rioja region, having started two months earlier in Aldeanueva del Ebro on 27 August. The total production was of 412.3 million kg of high quality grapes.

C.V.N.E 2008 Vintage Report

Harvests 2008 started in C.V.N.E. on the 1st of October, and lasted until the 6th of November. It was a rather long process, as it was necessary to make a careful selection of fruit but the weather was kind to us during this time with just a few showers towards the end, but by that time all grapes were already safely in the winery. The vine cycle up to the start of harvest was good generally speaking, with plenty of rain during Spring. This was essential to provide enough water for the vines during the warm summer months until the time came to pick the grapes.

C.V.N.E 2007 Vintage Report

Although still not officially rated, vintage 2007 was regarded on the whole as being a high quality harvest. In terms of volume, Rioja is slightly below the amount of grapes harvested in 2006. The vine's vegetative cycle in 2007 was rather slow and selective, allowing for a higher level of quality in the grapes in terms of concentration as well as a balance between the different quality parameters. Low rainfall, dry weather, and the usual frosts during winter, followed by a noticeable increase in temperature in February, and then colder and more humid conditions during March, made development stop until April, when budding started

C.V.N.E 2006 Vintage Report

This vintage was rated as very good by the DOC Rioja Council but we have to bear in mind that the criteria to rate vintages was amended and made more restrictive in order to reflect the higher levels of quality that Rioja wines have been attaining in the recent past.

C.V.N.E 2005 Vintage Report

This vintage was rated as excellent in the DOC Rioja. The vines developed well along their vegetative cycle mainly thanks to the weather that, generally speaking, was very good leading to high levels of quality and an outstanding sanitary state of the grapes of all varieties.

C.V.N.E 2004 Vintage Report

This vintage was rated excellent by the DOC Rioja Council. Good and well spaced snowfall and rainfall during winter and early spring guaranteed the vines' water requirements for the rest of the growing season. Budding was very good and inspite of high humidity along with high temperatures in late spring and summer resulting in some spots of mildew and botrytis in younger vines, their impact was not serious.

C.V.N.E 2003 Vintage Report

This vintage was officially rated as good by the DOC Rioja Council. Winter and the beginning of spring were rather wet thanks to both rainfall and snowfall, and temperatures were higher than normal with no frosts. The budding and number of bunches were outstanding, something which was further improved as there was no damage due to the lack of wind and storms.

C.V.N.E 2002 Vintage Report

This vintage was officially rated as good by the DOC Rioja Council.

C.V.N.E 2001 Vintage Report

Altogether, the vineyards developed satisfactorily, in tune with a normal cycle, although with earlier than usual budding, flowering and setting, due to the high temperatures, which also resulted in earlier ripening. Setting was excellent in most of the region and the vines showed a good numbers of clusters. This prompted the Control Board to recommend that grape growers carry out some thinning operations to maintain yields within the figures allowed by regulations. These maximum yields exist to ensure optimal quality and the magnificent results obtained amply support this policy.

C.V.N.E 2000 Vintage Report

The official DOC Rioja Council rating for this vintage was good.

C.V.N.E 1999 Vintage Report

This vintage was officially rated as good by the DOC Rioja Council.

C.V.N.E 1996 Vintage Report

The 1996 growth cycle developed under perfect conditions, with suitable rainfall and excellent health of the vines. This pointed by late August to an excellent harvest both in terms of quantity and quality. However, irregular weather during the harvest in September and October slowed down ripening and increased the volume. The winegrowers had to pay very special attention to the grape health during these periods and the bodegas had to programme the harvest very carefully.
