This Sauvignon Blanc displays a citric profile on the nose remeniscent of mango, mandarin and grapefruit skin, all framed by the herbal profile that characterises the variety. The palate offers freshness with a balance of citrus and herbal notes. A wine with great persistence, leaving a mineral sensation that is prolonged in an elegant finish.
The grapes for the Aconcagua Costa Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc came from our Manzanar Vineyard, located just 12 km from the Pacific Ocean. This property has hillsides that range from 100 to 300 metres above sea level and present an average heat summation of 1,191 Degree Days during the growing season with an average January temperature of 18.4¼C. These extraordinary characteristics are ideal for cool-climate varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are drip irrigated and trellised to vertical shoot position on soils with a thin layer of loam over another layer of clay and metamorphic slate-type rock (schist).
The 2017 vintage in Aconcagua was characterised by a mild and dry winter, followed by a sunny and warm summer. This resulted in ideal conditions for an optimal flowering, fruit set and veraison, and a healthy crop. These conditions led to wines with sophistication that beautifully balance fruit concentration, structure and depth.
Grapes were destemmed, crushed and pressed to best preserve their natural acidity. The juice was then fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged on lees for three months, ensuring multiple layers of aromas and flavours.
