The 2017 Hawkes Bay summer was hot and dry but rain and cooler weather over harvest meant the grapes were picked with freshness and low potential alcohols.
The 2017 Leftfield Malbec is an exploration of a lighter and fresher style of Malbec; juicy and inviting. After picking in the cool of the morning, the grapes were gently processed to open top fermenters for fermentation. The young wine then went to barrel for 18 months in a mix of French and American oak before blending and bottling.
