Complex aromas of peach, citrus and exotic fruit. Full and delicious on entry to the palate, followed by notes of citrus, grapefruit and white-fleshed fruit, showing a subtle soft character underpinned by a fine acidity which adds structure.
Located at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire and Aurélien mountains in the commune of Pourcieux, the parcels have a wide array of exposures and terroirs creating complex wines. The vineyards are mainly planted on clay and limestone soils.
The start of 2019 was very cold, followed by a cool spring with slightly delayed bud break but plenty of rainfall. With the return of the heat in May and the soil gorged with water, the vine literally exploded with a succession of stages following each other on at incredible speed and triggering high levels of activity in the vines. Blossom occurred in the middle of June and ripening at the beginning of August as last year, so lost time was completely made up. The year was certainly trouble-free compared to 2018! With these good hydric reserves underground, the leaves developed well, offering good shade for the bunches under them, a guarantee of tropical aromas and pale pinks as we think ahead to vinification. Harvesting started on September 5th, lasting just 10 days. The 2019 roses are a success with pale colour, structured, saline and almost tannic palate, and aromatic freshness marked by tropical aromas of grapefruit and flowers.
Harvesting is carried out at night by machine, to keep the grapes as fresh as possible. Short, cold maceration on the skins, followed by direct pressing. The grapes are protected against oxygen during this process to preserve the aromatic characters. Low temperature alcoholic fermentation. Aged for 5 months in stainless steel vats.
