OUR SUSTAINABLE APPROACH
We join the B Corp community
In March 2025, we were proud to announce our certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp). We have joined a growing movement of companies that are reinventing business to benefit all people and our shared planet.

Verified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, the achievement demonstrates that Hatch Mansfield meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability alongside a commitment to goals beyond shareholder value.
Hatch Mansfield is now part of a growing community of over 9,500 businesses globally that have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK is one of the largest and fastest-growing in the world, with over 2,400 companies spanning a range of different industries and sizes. As a B Corp in the wine industry, Hatch Mansfield are counted among businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
We commenced our B Corp journey with a framework of 5 Pillars:

The Environment
Over the last decade we have looked very hard at the best way to articulate our attitude to the environment, and how best to respond to the challenges involved.

Since 2012 we have offset around 9,000 tonnes of CO2 through gold standard Carbon Footprint projects.

In 2020, we achieved carbon-neutral status as accredited by Carbon Footprint.

Using novel innovative and sustainable packaging solutions to focus on more lightweight, recyclable and reusable materials, e.g. KeyKeg® and canned wine.

Carbon Neutral transportation via offsetting inbound and UK deliveries made by 3rd parties, for every bottle of wine we distribute.

Conserving energy with office lights that switch off automatically when a room is not in use.

Emissions from cars per head reduced by 25% over 10 years with projected further significant decrease from salary sacrifice scheme recently introduced to aid transition to EVs.

Carbon Neutrality

In 2013 we started working with the Woodland Trust to mitigate our impact on the environment by locking up carbon emissions in the UK through woodland management. Through this ongoing support we have so far removed more than 1,850 tonnes of carbon by planting in excess of 9,150 native British trees.
In addition, each year we invite our team and customers to vote for their favoured carbon offset project to address the annual CO2 created by the distribution of our wines from London City Bond, as well as our business travel and office CO2.

Partnering with Carbon Footprint, we have offset around 9,000 tonnes of CO2 through various gold-standard projects since 2012. Our current supported project is the Zambia Western Province Safe Water Project. The project rehabilitates and maintains borehole hand pumps, these are vital and safe water sources, it also trains the communities on best WASH practices, and builds the capacity of local communities to manage and maintain the water sources into the future. In 2020 we took this one step further and included all our inbound wine into London City Bond into our calculations – the final link in the chain.
Infrastructure improvements in 2024 at our distribution partner have shown further improvements in our Scope 3 emissions with lighting upgrades, electric forklift trucks and solar panel installation.

In 2022, we were delighted to signed up as a signatory to the Harpers Sustainability Charter, an initiative launched to champion UK drinks businesses demonstrating sustainable practices and offering a platform to share progress and best practice via goal-sharing and coverage of particular attainment.
In 2024, the emissions from cars per head reduced by 25% over 10 years with projected further significant decrease from salary sacrifice scheme introduced in 2024 to further aid the transition to Electric Vehicles. In addition, our office CO2 emissions are now 38% of what they were 10 years ago – an incredible achievement given our headcount has increased by over 50%.
The British Beekeepers Association

Bees are an important part of our environment and crucial for pollination. Bee hives are a common sight in many vineyards for this very reason. Hatch Mansfield is a corporate supporter of the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) who aim to further and promote the craft of beekeeping as well as advance the education of the public in the importance of bees in the environment.
The Producers
Without exception our producers consider the impact of vine growing and wine making on the environment, constantly searching for ways to minimise this. Some are pioneers in the field; Caliterra was one of the first wineries in Chile to obtain sustainable certification and the first to achieve Carbon Neutral status by utilising natural offsetting, thereby removing the need for carbon offsetting. Others, such as Louis Jadot and M.CHAPOUTIER, include biodynamic and organic practices within their estate. Cherubino are also producing their first carbon neutral wines. This is done not by offsetting but through vineyard, soil and winery management. A huge achievement.
We are also particularly proud of Domaine Evremond’s commitment to low environmental. impact, setting new standards in UK winemaking. Villa Maria has moved packing of the majority of its wines from New Zealand to the UK, meaning an incredible amount of bottles have not been shipped around the world.

All in all, the message is one –
be sensitive to the environment.
Corporate Social Responsibility
As an organisation which trades globally, we believe that our community is not just the people around us in the UK but also people around the world. This means that whilst we can have most control within the UK, we also have protocols to ensure our suppliers act as a good neighbour in their territory. We ensure that we audit our suppliers from both a technical point and how they behave in their own community and encourage all of them to develop good CSR policies and increase sustainability where possible.
ISO 14001 Accreditation

Over the last decade we have looked very hard at the best way to articulate our attitude to the environment, and how best to respond to the challenges involved. We talked to our suppliers, our customers, the trade and our team.
It would have been easy to adopt a couple of big issues and driven them hard and grabbed some headlines. However, easy wins are just that and we wanted something for the long term which is why we embarked on achieving and subsequently maintaining ISO 14001 accreditation.
ISO 14001 is a comprehensive environmental management system and many of our suppliers also have this to manage their environmental impacts through the production chain from vineyard to packaged product. Some of the key features required by ISO14001 include:
- A thorough, ongoing analysis of our environmental impacts
- A structured response, policy, and plan
- A commitment to continuous improvement and reduction of pollution
- A detailed knowledge of legal compliance
- Full engagement with the Hatch Mansfield team
- Annual external audits
Hatch Mansfield were one of the first wine agency companies to achieve this exacting accreditation.
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, we are:
- One of 60 corporate supporters of Drinkaware, amongst the first to sign up
- A long-term supporter of the Wine & Spirit Trade Association (WSTA)
- An early supporter of Drinks United, a collaboration between the WSTA, WSET, and The Drinks Trust, aimed at driving coordinated diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) action across the UK drinks industry
- A Bronze supporter of the Curious Vines Education Support Awards
- A signatory of the Portman Group and the Public Health Responsibility Deal
