Patrick Desgraupes Wins Errázuriz Wine Photographer of the Year 2017 Award

French photographer scoops world’s top wine photo prize

The winner of Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year 2017, a category of Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2017, was announced at a packed reception at the Mall Galleries, London, last night, Tuesday 25 April 2017, as Patrick Desgraupes of Pelissanne for his stunning image, The Rosé Wine Tank.

He was presented with a trophy and a cheque for £1000 by Magui Chadwick, sixth generation of Chile’s leading family winery and sponsor of the category. Judges were Eduardo Chadwick, President and owner of Errazuriz Winery, Joanna Simon, Wine & Food Editor, House & Garden, Abby Hocking, Photo Editor, Food&Wine, Time Inc, Sarah Kemp, Publisher of Decanter, and Yasia Willams, Art Director, Octopus Publishing Group.

“The competition was intensely fierce,” says Chadwick, “there were over 8400 images entered into the awards internationally and the standard was phenomenal. Patrick’s image stood out from the rest in this category, however, for its incredibly original treatment, wonderful composition and colour.”

Patrick’s image was also the first-ever winner of the highly prestigious Fujifilm Award for Innovation category. He was presented with a trophy by Paul Sanders, Ambassador for Fujifilm UK, sponsor of the prize, who chose the image from the shortlist of over 500.

The evening was compered by chair of the judges, journalist and food critic, Jay Rayner, and took place in front of more than 400 people at the Champagne Taittinger reception, many of whom had flown in from across the world for the occasion, from Italy, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, France, Australia and more.

Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year is the world’s leading celebration of the art of food photography and film. In its sixth year, almost 40,000 entries have been submitted since its inception.
