Côte de Nuits Villages Le Vaucrain 2014 6x75cl

Côte de Nuits
  • 75cl bottle

Côte de Nuits Villages Le Vaucrain is silky and shows a nice colour. The tannins are elegant. When it is young it has aromas of little red berries and liquorice.

Vineyards

The Louis Jadot Le Vaucrain vineyard of 35 hectares was acquired 1996. It is located in Comblanchien, next to the famous Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru Clos de la Maréchale.

Vintage

Conditions for 2014 started well before a violent hailstorm in June hit several communes in the Mâcon and Côte d'Or with devastating effects. Summer then continued to be unsettled but a period of dry weather in September returned the available grapes to good health and the grapes were harvested from 11th September onwards resulting in expressive red wines with intense freshness and elegant tannins.

Winemaking

The alcoholic fermentation usually lasts 3 to 4 weeks. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels for 10 to 12 months before bottling.

Enjoy with:

  • Grilled and Roasted Red Meats
  • Mild Creamy Cheeses
Pot Roasted Pheasant.
