Angelo GajaOwner and President
Angelo is a fourth generation Piedmontese winemaker. After completing studies in oenology in Alba and Montpellier he began working in the family business in 1961. Inspired by his travels and experiences in different parts of the world Angelo is recognised for his bold innovations in the vineyards and the cellars, some of which include planting the region’s first Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc vineyards, as well as introducing clonal and massal selection in the vineyard and barrique ageing wines in 225L French oak barrels. He is recognised as a pioneer in the production of single-vineyard wines in Piedmont.
Besides working between the family’s properties in Piedmont and Tuscany, Gaia, the eldest of the three children of Angelo and Lucia, travels the globe as a family ambassador. After completing a degree in economics at the University of Pavia, Gaia spent two years in the wine industry in San Francisco before returning to Italy to begin working with her father. Today, she is involved in every aspect of the business, and clearly shares her father’s energy and charisma.
The youngest of the three children and named after his grandfather, Giovanni has recently returned to his home in Barbaresco after working in America promoting the family’s estates. Joining the family, he is actively involved in the business and continues the long tradition.
