Bourgogne Pinot Noir ‘Couvent des Jacobins’ 2023 6x75cl

Bourgogne

Harmonious and balanced, with a plump fruitiness and silky texture offset by round, gentle tannins in a wine of medium body and elegant structure. The very typical, fragrant varietal bouquet is complemented by a deliciously lingering finish.

Vineyards

The production area for this wine is the whole of Burgundy. The Louis Jadot Bourgogne Pinot Noir comes from a balanced blend of Côte d'Or, Saône et Loire (Mercurey, Buxy) and Irancy.

Vintage

The 2023 started with a mild and dry winter, with little rain and mild temperatures delaying plant growth.ŠIn April, cooler weather and late frosts helped protect vulnerable buds, followed by rapid vine growth as temperatures increased.ŠJune was sunny with early flowering seen in some vineyards, but there was also rising fungal disease pressure.ŠThunderstorms in late June boosted water levels slightly, and veraison began in early July.ŠAugust had variable weather, leading to intense heat and interrupted ripening. Harvest started on September 4th and concluded quickly by September 18th amid an unusual heatwave.

Winemaking

The wine is usually fermented for two weeks by the different growers, in the style of the region where it comes from. The wines are then blended with a proportion aged in barrels and the rest in vats for 9 to 16 months before bottling.
